Together with concept maker and artist Abner Preis [US], we converted world-famous club Paradiso in Amsterdam into a big skate area named Slackernation. We gave the club not only a complete different look with the customized ramps that we built up during the day, but also with our multi-layered backdrops by artists as Will Barras [UK], Morcky [IT], Slacker [NL], Laser 3.14 [NL], Wayne Horse [GER], Chat P [FRA] and Imtek [BRA]. The event stretched out from the early morning hours till midnight and due to sponsorships the event had been free of entrance.
In total we had a two dozens bands and DJs playing while some of the best Dutch skate pros and BMX champions flew through the air. As a highlight of the show we built the skate obstacle The Duchamp -inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s art piece Bicycle Wheel- that had to be conquered by all athletes. When the skate and BMX event had been finished, we had several art performances and groups on stage.
